EB23 Rio Tinto is a lower secondary in Gondomar, 900 students (5th-9th grades) 90 teachers, special education teachers, 2 psychologists, individual tutoring & mixed ability classes with inclusive education pupils. The school offers after classes clubs in sports, arts, drama, citizenship, multimedia, astronomy, robotics, writing, first aid, civil protection & environment. We are awarded the Eco Flag yearly as a recognition of good green practices. We have been participating in Erasmus+ projects for years, Comenius before that & eTwinning events with a huge success for the whole educative community. We are a school cluster of 1600 children working for a better world. Nevertheless, these practices seem to be restricted to school walls & families tend to ignore them! Through SWOT analysis at the beginning of the year we realized there's a huge lack of awareness towards environmental affairs, especially consumerism.

Within the scope of this partnership we will be responsible for preparing before & after questionnaires both in eTwinning project & in transnational meetings to evaluate the awareness of students about environmental issues. We intend to develop activities that go beyond the walls of our school, disseminate information & education in this field amongst the local community & alter mentalities.
